SPICES & ALLIED PRODUCTS

Known as the Spice Island, Sri Lanka was historically attractive to the Western nations for its spice riches. Sri Lankan Spices and Allied products Suppliers export the most sought-after cinnamon, pepper, cloves, cardamoms, nutmeg, mace and vanilla. Ayurveda is the hugely popular art of healthy living, which has transcended all cultures. It is formed from the root words of Ayu (life) and Veda (science); being one of the oldest forms of medical science, today it has gained wide popularity amongst consumers worldwide.

ORGANIC PRODUCTS

Organic agriculture is a sustainable form of agriculture, for both ecological and economic reasons. The development trend of Organic Agriculture in world during the past decade shows a positive growth. As an example USA and Canada are having rapidly growing Organic Food market of 20% and Europe is having 7.8% per year. It had a boom in 1980’s with investments from Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, India, United Kingdom and Germany for mass scale component manufacturing. The sector was grown as an export–led industry over past 40 years contributing 318 US$ million to the Sri Lanka exports in 2016 and 294 US $ million in 2015. The industry mainly caters for automobile, telecommunication, consumer electronics, industrial automation and many other verticals.

RUBBER & RUBBER BASED PRODUCTS

The history of Sri Lanka’s rubber plantation industry began way back in 1876 with the planting of 1,919 rubber seedlings - the origin of an uninterrupted and profitable supply chain. This agricultural commodity has since become of strategic significance with respect to the global rubber industry. Customarily close to the hearts and minds of farming communities all over Sri Lanka, the rubber industry has a close association with sustainable practices. The rubber industry generates employment for a vast number of people mainly from rural areas and is important in providing them with economic sustenance for their livelihood.

PLASTIC PRODUCTS

Plastic processing is a flourishing, industry in Sri Lanka for over 45 years. Currently Sri Lanka has over 400 companies engaged in plastic processing .A total sum of Rs.15 Billion has been invested in plastics processing in Sri Lanka .Almost 50% of this has come through Foreign Direct Investments. Out of this 66 % of total investment is exclusively for processing of plastic products for the export market.
